qPCR panel for detection and differentiation of RHDV type 1 (GI.1) and type 2 (GI.2) in rabbits.

Overview
This molecular panel test detects Rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) and simultaneously distinguishes between the two main genotypes: classical RHDV type 1 (GI.1) and RHDV type 2 (GI.2). The test is intended for use in cases of clinical or pathological suspicion of rabbit haemorrhagic disease.

Sampling and submission guidelines

In acute or fatal cases, blood, liver, and spleen are generally the most informative specimens. In live animals, blood or a swab can be submitted.
Collect the sample aseptically. Obtain liver, spleen, or other tissue material as soon as possible after death or euthanasia. Do not use fixative or formalin for qPCR samples.
Sterile leakproof container for tissue; EDTA tube for whole blood; sterile dry swab.
Ship chilled in leakproof packaging. Use absorbent material and cold packs where appropriate. Submit samples as quickly as possible; if delay or longer storage is expected, ship frozen.
In acute or fatal cases, liver, spleen, and blood are preferred.
