Genetic test for the DNM1 c.767G>T variant for Exercise-induced collapse / EIC in dogs.
Overview
This genetic test analyses the DNM1 variant c.767G>T for Exercise-induced collapse in dogs. The condition is also known as EIC and collapse after intense exercise. The test determines whether the dog is clear, a carrier or genetically affected for this autosomal recessive variant.
Dogs with the affected genotype can develop a wobbly gait, hindlimb weakness, incoordination and sometimes collapse during or shortly after strenuous exercise. Outside an episode the dog may appear normal, which makes DNA testing especially useful in breeds and lines where EIC occurs.
The condition is inherited as autosomal recessive. A dog with G/G does not carry the variant. A dog with G/T is a carrier and can pass the variant on. A dog with T/T has two copies and develops the tested inherited form of EIC.
Included subanalyses
This analysis includes the following subanalysis:
Allele combinations & result interpretations
Below, for each tested locus, you will find the possible allele combinations that may be reported within this analysis, together with a brief explanation of their genetic meaning. The interpretation of possible interactions between different loci is included in the report, but is not shown here in full because that would lead to too many combinations on this page. The final expression may also depend on other genes and their interaction.
Genotype / allele combination: G/G - clear
This dog does not carry the tested DNM1 variant. The dog will not develop the tested inherited form of Exercise-induced collapse / EIC due to this variant and will not pass it on.
Genotype / allele combination: G/T - carrier
This dog carries one copy of the DNM1 variant. The dog is a carrier, will not develop Exercise-induced collapse / EIC due to this recessive variant, but can pass the variant on.
Genotype / allele combination: T/T - affected
This dog has two copies of the DNM1 variant. This genotype causes the tested inherited form of Exercise-induced collapse / EIC.
