DNA test for sex determination in Arapaima gigas using an X/Y marker.

Overview
This DNA test analyzes an X/Y marker used for sex determination in Arapaima gigas.
In this species, external sex characteristics are often difficult to assess reliably. DNA testing can therefore provide valuable support for breeding plans, broodstock selection and aquaculture population management.
Within this analysis, an X/X profile is interpreted as consistent with a female DNA profile, while an X/Y profile is interpreted as consistent with a male DNA profile.
Included subanalyses
This analysis includes the following subanalysis:
Allele combinations & result interpretations
Below, for each tested locus, you will find the possible allele combinations that may be reported within this analysis, together with a brief explanation of their genetic meaning. The interpretation of possible interactions between different loci is included in the report, but is not shown here in full because that would lead to too many combinations on this page. The final expression may also depend on other genes and their interaction.
Genotype / allele combination: Female (XX)
The result shows an XX profile. For this test, this means the tested animal is interpreted as female. No Y-specific signal was detected.
Genotype / allele combination: Male (XY)
The result shows an XY profile. For this test, this means the tested animal is interpreted as male. The Y-specific signal was detected.
